Supervision

The How we regulate series sets out our overall regulatory approach and describes how regulation is delivered, according to our assessment of the level of risk of a housing association failing to meet the Regulatory Code. Publication number 9 in the series describes how supervision is used by the Corporation when an association is found to be failing to meet the Code. It sets out our approach to supervision, its purpose, the circumstances in which it is imposed, how we use our statutory powers, and the actions required in order for supervision status to be removed.

We have written two supporting documents, providing further information on statutory appointments to housing association governing bodies, and on stautory inquiries. We have published three volumes in the Learning From Problem Cases series, two of which are available on this site. The latest edition is called With the Best of Intentions

In January 2008 we commenced a new initiative which seeks to expand the pool of expertise available for statutory appointments to housing association governing bodies. Anyone interested in joining the pool should read the information sheet carefully and, if appropriate, should submit a completed application form to the Corporation.
