Launched by the Housing Corporation in 2005 to identify and share best practice the Gold Award is the first awards scheme run by the Housing Corporation and has now become a flagship programme.
The objectives of the award scheme are to:
- identify and reward excellent practice and innovation in social housing
- actively share these better ways of operating with all housing providers
- raise performance standards across the sector
- encourage future innovation
Each year sees the introduction of new themes with up to three awards presented per theme. The themes are chosen to reflect the pressing issues in the social housing sector.
Winners then embark on a nine month knowledge sharing programme in which key lessons learnt and replicable practices are actively shared through the social sector.
Learning activities include national conferences, open days, policy breakfasts, workshops, and knowledge sharing material.
