Governance

These documents are designed to help housing associations make sure they are properly governed. This includes issues like recruiting and appointing board members, making sure the organisation operates to high standards of probity and protects public investment, and ensuring equal opportunities.

  • The appointment of a new Chief Executive is one of the most important decisions – if not the most important decision – which an RSL Board has to make and it is one which must be got right. The whole process is a very public advertisement – good or bad – for an RSL.
  • The relationship between the chair and the chief executive is a key partnership in any organisation but little attention has been devoted to exploring or developing these relationships. This summary is drawn from a report which examines the nature of the relationship in Registered Social Landlords
  • This document sets out a Code of Best Practice for Board members of the Housing Corporation (the Corporation). It draws on the Cabinet Office Guidance on Codes of Practice for Board Members of Public Bodies issued in February 2000 and on the Corporation’s own experience and practices developed over nearly 40 years of existence
  • This report offers guidance on issues relating to shareholding membership. It stems from an IGP funded research project that gathered information on current practice.
  • No time to lose!
