Continuing shortfalls in the race equality performance of RSLs, despite 20 years of race equality initiatives are highlighted by this research which assesses how far RSLs meet the needs of BME communities.

The research, led by De Montfort University, examined the views of key organisations in the sector, previous studies and RSLs' lettings data. RSLs were surveyed on their race equality policies and performance and visited to conduct follow up interviews. Most importantly, the research has been underpinned by focus groups with BME tenants and other community members.
