Source DP5: Tenant profiles

The findings from the 1995 tenants survey (published in Source research 20: Housing association tenants in 1995) generated more questions than answers. The Housing Corporation then invited a group of experts in the social housing field to write essays on their specialist areas.

This collections of essays is now published as Source discussion 5: Tenant profiles. The essays carry out a more in-depth analysis on the data, compare the results with other sources and put forward recommendations to registered social landlords. They provide important insights into the circumstances of tenants and some of their aspirations.

The essays include:

  • Social change and residualisation Bill Randolph, University of Western Sydney Macarthur
  • Older tenants Anthea ``Tinker and Clare Jarvis. King's College London
  • Registered social landlords and tenants' attitudes Robina Goodlad, University of Glasgow,
  • The demand for low cost home ownership Glen Bramley and Sharon Lancaster Heriot- Watt University
  • Low income and rent arrears Janet Ford and Roger Burrows. University of York
  • Registered social landlord rents Christine Whitehead and Angus Freeman, University of Cambridge
