Design and Modern Methods of Construction

This report presents the findings of a programme of research funded by the Housing Corporation and commissioned by CABE (the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment), to investigate the qualitative implications of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) on the design quality of social housing schemes. It focuses exclusively on schemes
that have received funding from the Housing Corporation under Round One of the Challenge Fund.

The report has been prepared by Peter Lusby Taylor, Sandy Morrison and Colin Ainger of HTA Architects and Professor Ray Ogden of the Department of Architecture, Oxford Brookes University. The research team wishes to acknowledge the input of CABE who have made important contributions to the remit, methodology and organisation of the project.
