The Race Equality Network is holding a seminar for the housing sector on how to consult and involve black and minority ethnic tenants and communities. The seminar, entitled 'Engaging with BME Communities - practical ideas for housing providers' will be held in Leeds on Tuesday 13th July 2004.

The seminar is being held in partnership with The Ridings Housing Association. The Ridings is committed to encouraging tenant involvement and has been particularly proactive in consulting with BME communities in the inner-city areas of Leeds.

The Race Equality Network's Project Director, Amalia Booker said, "We hope that delegates will leave the seminar with practical examples of how they can engage with BME communities in their areas. By sharing good practice from other organisations we aim to give delegates new ideas to help them build on their existing methods of communication and improve their performance in this area."

The seminar will feature speakers from a range of housing associations, resident organisations and the Housing Corporation.

Registration forms for the seminar can be downloaded from the Network's website www.raceequalitynetwork.co.uk or telephone 01484 477141.
