As previously indicated, under the transitional arrangements for the abolition of LASHG, we have extended the period for the submission of bids for LASHG to the end of June 2003. The system is open for bids and will remain open for bids until Monday 30 June. Local authorities and Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) should note that schemes will only be considered for funding if they can start on site by 31 January 2004.

We are aware that there has been a high level of interest among local authorities and RSLs in making bids under the transitional arrangements. The level of bids is likely to exceed the resources available. The Housing Corporation and the Government Offices will evaluate the bids against regionally agreed priorities to decide which will be funded.
