Tenants of registered social landlords (formerly housing associations) may be able to apply to buy the home they rent at a discount. This scheme is called the Voluntary Purchase Scheme and is one of the ways in which the government aims to provide greater choice to tenants of registered social landlords wishing to purchase their own home.
