Investment Bulletin 2003/04
The Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott has re-affirmed the central role of the Housing Corporation and housing associations in delivering the policies set out in Sustainable Communities: building for the future by approving the Corporations proposals for our investment programme in 2003/04. Including the Challenge Fund element the programme will produce in excess of 28,500 homes at a cost of £1.623 billion. This is the largest programme we have mounted since 1996/ 97. Details of the programme and the recipients of the largest allocations can be found in this document.
Sustainable Communities and related investment policies have set a number of challenges for the Corporation and associations. There is an expectation that together we will have a major role to play in the four growth areas of Milton Keynes and the South Midlands, the London-Stansted-Cambridge corridor, Thames Gateway and Ashford; in the low demand pathfinder areas in the North and Midlands; in encouraging the use of modern methods of construction; in housing key workers; and in ensuring the sustainability of new development.
