Housing for Vulnerable People
The Housing Corporation believes that a strong and sustainable community or neighbourhood benefits from the inclusion, and responds to the needs, of all its members, including those who are vulnerable.
Our aim is to use our investment and regulatory powers to secure the provision of homes within existing and new communities that respond to vulnerable people’s particular requirements for support, care and self-determination, thereby maximising their quality of life.
Investing in Independence is the Housing Corporation’s strategy for housing for vulnerable people. It sets out how we will engage with housing associations and support them in responding to the needs of vulnerable people, working with local and health authorities, the Department of Health, Department for Communities and Local Government and others.
What’s new:
The Housing Corporation is extremely pleased with the significant increase in allocations to supported housing and housing for older people in our NAHP 2006-08. All supported housing priorities within regional housing strategies were achieved or exceeded.
We have published simplified accounting guidance for Supporting People income within the Accounting Requirements for Registered Social Landlords General Determination 2006
