Guide to Local Rents 2006
Every year the Housing Corporation publishes data in: 'The Guide to Local Rents Parts I and II' which provide comprehensive data on the pattern of average rents in the social housing sector in England. This year this will be enhanced by a part III which will provide analysis on rents for supported housing. All parts are now available.
Full details can be found on the RSR website: Guide to Local Rents 2006
The Guide to Local Rents is produced on behalf of the Housing Corporation by Dataspring, a team of researchers based in the Cambridge Centre for Housing and Planning Research, University of Cambridge.
Part I (Tables A1-A2) uses data from from the RSR and CORE surveys, CLG and the Rents Service to provide a cross-tenure comparison of rents by local authority area in the:
- Registered social landlord (RSL);
- local authority (LA); and
- private sector
Part II (Tables B1-B3) of the 2006 Rent Guide provides detailed analysis of the housing association sector and covers social landlord rents based on data at 31 March 2006 obtained from the RSR survey. It consists of three tables, giving total stock levels, average rent and service charges broken down by bedsize for:
- each region within England, and a national total;
- each RSL; and
- each local authority area, broken down among all RSLs which own stock there.
The new part III (Tables C1-C3) of the 2006 guide to local rents covers social landlord rents for supported housing and housing for older people based on data at 31 March 2006 obtained from the RSR survey.
It consists of three tables, giving a combination of rents data for:
- total stock levels, average net and gross rents and service charges broken down by bedsize for each region within England, and a national total (Table C1)
- gross average rents broken down by bedsize for each RSL (Table C2)
- total stock levels, average net and gross rents and service charges broken down by bedsize for each RSL by Local Authority area for each region within England. (Table C3)
