The Social HomeBuy pilot programme commenced on 1 April 06 as a strand of the National Affordable Housing Programme 2006-08. The programme is designed to provide new opportunities for housing association and local authority tenants who do not have the Right To Buy or Right To Acquire, to buy their current home outright or if they cannot afford it, to buy a share in their rented home.
