The extension of home ownership is a major plank of the government’s housing policy. In the future it is estimated that a larger proportion of new home owners are likely to be assisted financially either by government, by developers, or others.
This In Brief examines the increasing role of housing associations as agents of low cost home ownership (LCHO) and examines some actions that would help to ensure that this expansion of home ownership is sustainable.
