In brief: Community cohesion and housing: a good practice guide (newly revised)

In 2007 the Chartered Institute for Housing and the Housing Corporation agreed to produce a newly revised version of ‘Community cohesion and housing: a good practice guide’. It reflects the Singh Commission’s recommendations and updates the advice to housing professionals on the basis of practical experience, which has been developed in many places and in many housing organisations over the last three years.

The guide follows in the spirit of the Commission’s particular emphasis that ‘local areas themselves can play a role in forging cohesive and resilient communities’, and is populated by many practical examples of where this is already happening countrywide. It provides a practical toolkit aimed specifically at housing providers and the residents with whom they work.
