Design focus - Boulevard, Holborough Valley

New England has been brought to a corner of Kent, thanks to Southern Housing Group. The Boulevard in Holborough Valley is part of a larger development on an abandoned quarry next to the town of Snodland, in Kent, on the River Medway.

Working with architects OSP Architecture, Southern is using the ‘Super-E’ timber panel system from Canada, which offers high energy efficiency and reduced heating costs. It’s also incorporating timber cladding from Cape Cod into the scheme.

There’s also plenty of green space, formal and informal landscaping and several lakes. Community facilities include a doctor’s surgery and a primary school.

The Boulevard is a mixed tenure development. A total of 21 flats and four houses are for rent, and there are 15 flats for shared ownership.
